If you had read All Touch Tablet for some time now you know I’m saying from time to time that touchscreen technology is not the future of user interfaces, but the brain. The moment when we’ll be really connected to our gadgets is the moment when we will control them via our thoughts, not gestures. XWave is the first brainwave interface for the iPhone/iPod touch/iPad, an accessory featuring a headphone and an electrode connected to your forehead, that has the purpose of reading your brain waves and then control objects on screen.
For now the XWave is great for games, where you can levitate spheres, change colors based on your relaxation level and things you don’t consider essential, but an SDK (Software Development Kit) is provided for developers to take the legacy further and build new and complex apps to maximize the potential of this innovative gadget. What’s interesting is the fact that you’ll be able to preorder the XWave kit from PLX Devices for just 100 dollars, starting in October.
