With most touch tables we’ve see from Microsoft Surface there was the problem with price, availability, installed software and the fact that you couldn’t sit comfortably around them to work. Touchy Remix is the new kid on the block that promises to change the game in multiple ways. First it’s available right now from Intactlab, but you have to ask for a price quote from them.

Second it’s lightweight thanks to its fiberglass shell that makes it easy to move around the house, plus it’s shaped in such a way to allow you to sit on a chair around it (more than one person can sit around Touchy Remix). It also comes in multiple colors to choose from and that’s a good thing as none of your guests will ever ask you ‘what’s that awful thing in the middle of the living-room’.

We don’t know much about hardware but given the fact that it can be pre-ordered with Windows 7 or Mac OS X makes me believe it’s got Intel guts inside (actually it has a Mac Mini inside). The screen is a delightful 40 inch diagonal multi touch display with a pretty low resolution: 1280 x 800 pixels, but that’s the price to pay for having a cheap interactive table at home.

As you might expect, Touchy Remix is not just a bunch of hardware from various manufacturers assembled in a special design light weight case, as it also features top software layer that adds some touch functionality. That piece of software is provided by Vortex. We’ve got also a video showing you how the Touchy Remix multi touch table works in practice:
