When it comes to mobile devices mobility is the one thing everyone craves for. Till now all my laptops charged in at least 50% of the time the battery lasted. Of course you can get this time down by closing the laptop while charging, but what would be the point, right? Toshiba seems to be the pioneer when it comes to solving this problem as it seems they’re ready to bring to market the lightest 13 inch laptop fitted with a fast charging SCiB battery, that can be replenished in 10 minutes to 90% of its capacity.
That’s super duper! Imagine you can charge from time to time very fast, just like a Formula 1 pit-stop. I won’t bother you with the specs, as USB 3.0, Core i3/i5/i7 CPUs and SSD drives can’t be called news anymore, but the SCiB battery, if proven true, is something that you break the barriers. As Toshiba didn’t announced anything official yet the price is another unknown, a big one, but for those who need this type of technology price is not a problem.

i was thinking of “what could i use it for?” ofcourse, its nice but when i charge something i will leave it there for a while anyway… BUT… i found something i could use it for though.
I’m always bothered by AIRPLANES, they never seem to have a good electric output for my laptop, and i often go inter-continental. so now i can just go to the plane toilet, take a 10 minute *sitdown* while plugging it in there. and done…
AWESOME! hehehe too bad you have to buy the whole laptop and can’t just buy those batteries.

Jeff
I believe Jeff that Toshiba will test the waters with this model and then, depending on customer’s reaction, will launch separate SCiB batteries for various devices.
