If I was to resume all the problems with Windows 7  tablets that would be performance. I’m not talking about expensive devices like Lenovo X201t, but of slate tablets, that can be bought for under 1000$, some for even lower amounts. Performance is the thing that makes Windows 7 tablets based on Atom CPUs generally to fall way behind in responsiveness compared to the iPad or Android tablets. There’s not much you can do about that, you might think, plus couple that with the user interface not really adjusted to touch use (small buttons for example) and you understand why Windows 7 tablets are not my favorites.

But this is about to change, as after I’ve seen the video below that pits together the Hanvon BC10C slate against the iPad in various software challenges I have to admit I would love to see a Windows 7 Slate with a dual core CPU. The CPU in the video is a single core 1.3 GHz Celeron M ULV 743 CPU with GMA4500 graphics, so imagine what performance levels you’ll be able to achieve with an additional core. The downside, as it has to be one, is the price: Hanvon sells the BC10C for around 800 EUROS (over 1000$), which is outrageous in current market conditions.
