The source for 2012 iPad, Android and tablet PC news, reviews and accessories guides
We’re talking here at AllTouchTablet about various tablet models all the time and occasionally we talk about sales numbers, market share and predictions for the years to come. As this niche is a relatively new one, every analyst is trying to see further than others and launch their own predictions about what will happen in the news two-three years.
The new idea is that slate tablet sales will become a new way for people to consume content and will be seen as an alternative to traditional personal computers by those who don’t use their PC to work, but just to browse the web, watch videos and chat with their friends. The new slate tablets will make them switch over from PCs to tablets, which will affect further sales.
Estimations are optimistic, to say the least, with 30-40% cannibalization of low end notebook market and 2% from 21 to 19% in the case of PC market growth. Right now it’s hard to believe those numbers, as tablets are expected to sell 15 millions units in 2010, while PCs are selling one million per day currently, but we all know that the IT industry is one of the fastest moving, thus anything can change in a matter of months, years.
