I don’t understand manufacturers that base their products on modified versions of other products. What if the original manufacturer stops selling the initial model? You’re left with no prime materials for your own model. But that’s not the point of this post. The point is to show another Dell Inspiron Mini mod, this time not an amateur try, but a fully fledged netbook tablet.

The manufacturer is called Stantum and the product is Slate PC, a 10.1 inch tablet with “unlimited touch”. In this case unlimited means 10 simultaneous touch point that can be recognized by hand or stylus (that if you use 10 styluses at the same time). Finger pressure can also be detected. There’s no need for a driver in Windows 7 to get the touchscreen capabilities.

The Stantum Slate PC is for now a proof of concept, as it is a technology that can be scaled from 2″ to 15.4″ screens. Current modifications of the Dell Inspiron Mini 10 include added multitouch panel and controller, keyboard and trackpad removed, webcam also removed, no wifi or bluetooth antennas (so no chip either), 1 less USB port. That’s heavy modifications if you ask me.

Stantum si taking orders right now, but don’t expect them to give you a price before contacting them. Oh no, it would make things too easy.
