With more success comes even more hesitation, this seems to be the problem lately with big names in IT industry. Names like Sony are now scared of making a bold move before they have the certainty that it will work. That’s a paradox, my friends, because if the IT industry taught us one thing, is that there’s no way to know if and when something new works. Sony said a few months ago they’re considering joining the touch tablet race, but had few data to confirm that customers are so much into tablets that designing one is worth the money.
Now that Apple broke the 1 million sold units barrier in less than 30 days, Sony is almost sure tablets will be a hit and is considering launching its own iPad rival in just a few months time. If you ask me they are already too late and should join efforts to get a new product on market asap, before iPad gains too much ground, but I guess they won’t come too soon. Maybe they’ll manage to get something on market till the end of the year, when HP, RIM and others are planning to do the same. It will be an interesting end year, if you ask me.

Sony is aiming for iPad too

Interesting, I’m looking forward to hear about sony’s try to make a decent tablet, because in my view they are not too late, rather they are making a smart move, they can watch the competition make early-bird mistakes and can learn from the consumer what it really wants. Sony is a company that (usually) does not make low-end hardware (look at the PS3 as an example) so i do expect sony to come with a really powerfull piece of hardware that will also have good features that they put in after watching the consumers needs and the oppositions mistakes.
Looking forward to this. :)

Jeff
I’m curious if Sony will copy other manufacturers or it will try on something different, like the Vaio X, a superb netbook. Personally I tend to lean towards copy, but you never know.
