We saw all kind of Android tablets this year, except convertible tablets, at least till CeBIT, where Mag Digital presented its Skytone Alpha convertible tablet powered by Android 1.6 and an ARM11 CPU. Alpha means the beginning in Greek alphabet, and there’s a lot to improve till we hit Omega. This is like the first Asus EEE PC netbook: 7 inch touchscreen (800 x 480 pixels), two hours battery life, WiFi, USB, SD card slot plus two nice features, the TV out port and the 180 degrees swivel mechanism of the screen.
On both screen edges (left and right) we have a directional pad (D-pad) and Android shortcut buttons. Skytone Alpha seems rather sluggish in the video below but there’s not much you could ask from a 200-250 $ tablet. Mag Digital doesn’t sell those directly to customers but they expect the retail price from their partners to get to the before mentioned price.
