It’s not a shock per say, but just me being a little ironic about some news around the web that are interpreted the same way (aka the wrong way) by everyone that writes about the same subject (here and here). In this case is about the UK based X2 company that announced their slate type tablet called iTablet. They all say Apple is going to fight back, but none of them said anything about the trademark belonging to the Copertino company or not.

Dudes, if X2 would have named their product iPad then they would be in trouble, no, not with Apple, but Fujitsu as I’ve written a few days ago. The iTablet naming scheme has all the chances to go unnoticed by Apple (that’s another way of saying they don’t care), or maybe X2 has already talked to Apple and reached an agreement.

But enough with the chatter and let see what the iTablet is all about. First you should know that it comes in two sizes: 10.2 inches and 12.1 (both 1024 x 768 pixels) but both are 35mm thick which is a lot more than the iPad and some other fully fledged laptops and weights just 1.18 kg. Other hardware specs include an Intel Atom 1.6 GHz CPU, 250 GB internal memory, 3G connectivity, WiFi, Bluetooth, webcam and a lot of ports that the iPad lacks: 3 x USB and HDMI.

No word on availability but I suspect it will be soon or never, if Apple really is after the iTablet name.
