Samsung is yet another big manufacturer that has to enter the tablet arena. Sure rumors have hit the web about them preparing for a slate launch, but since no official info was released all we have is guesses, nothing sure. Before jumping to the next rumors let’s see in short what we know about Samsung’s tablet plans, consisting for now of the 7 inch Galaxy Tab running Android 2.2, basically a bigger version of the Galaxy i9000 S smarthphone. A 1.2 GHz Cortex A8 CPU is rumored and front/back facing video cameras, which means the phone function is also present.

AMOLED screen technology is also rumored but I believe it will bring the price of the device too high, something Samsung shouldn’t do if they want to compete directly with the iPad. TouchWiz (the Samsung custom interface) will be there, but call my crazy, as I don’t like it one bit. Now let’s see what we have new: the Q3 launch date, which seems rather real, since some journalists have received notice of an August 11th event where Samsung will be presenting new products.

Oh, and here’s a blurry picture with someone holding a mysterious Samsung device during a presentation, a device that resembles in shape the Galaxy Tab tablet. Again, the picture is very blurry, so it might just be a way to draw attention, you never know:
