We’ve told you a while ago about Samsung’s plans to launch a 7 inch touch tablet, called Galaxy Tab. Well, it seems the real name is Samsung Galaxy Tape, and the 7 inch screen is indeed a Super AMOLED one, which means great color accuracy and outdoor viewing, putting the iPad in the second place (at least on paper).

The other news is that we now have even more info about what’s  inside, and the news is great: Android 2.2 Froyo and an A8 1.2 GHz CPU are on for the official launch, sometime this year.

But let’s see the main specs of the Samsung Galaxy Tape in a short list, as seen by a Vietnamese site who got the info first hand:

    • Processor: A8, 1.2GHz clock rate
    • Memory: 16 GB, can be upgraded to 48 GB via a microSD 32 GB card
    • Screen: 7 inch SuperAMOLED
    • Weight: 370 grams
    • Battery pack: 4000 mAh

Another thing that we know for sure is that Samsung will surely use the TouchWiz UI on top of Android to personalize it. Hope it will be better than other custom UIs Samsung has produced over the years. Of course we don’t know anything yet about availability and pricing, but rest assured we’ll let you know once we do.
