The touch tablet niche is so small that you wonder why would anyone want to make a niche touch tablet, which only appeals to some of the touch screen tablet fanatics. Well, I don’t know the reasons but some French company just did that and build the QOOQ (which is spelled ‘cook’), a touch tablet for gourmands, which is meant to be used in kitchen.
Basically we have a touch netbook with a 10 inch screen and proprietary interface for searching and downloading recipes. If you get bored in kitchen you can listen to some radio stations, see local weather conditions to plan your next trip outside or you can use the QOOQ as a digital photo frame.
The hardware of the QOOQ includes also a virtual keyboard, Ethernet, USB ports, an SD card slot, plus Wi-Fi connectivity. If you wonder how the QOOQ is prepared to handle your greasy hands and all the ingredients that can be spilled by mistake on its surface then you’ll be glad to find out that the surface of screen is protected by a glass layer and all ports are somehow covered.
The QOOQ will sell soon for 349 EUROs plus 12.95 EURO per month subscription for further download of added recipes (500 are supplied initially, but you’ll want to get more).
