Panasonic is well known for its Toughbook series of laptops, some of the best rugged portable computers you can get today. Also Toughbooks are some of the most expensive, with pricing over 2000$ and reaching easily the 3000$ mark depending on configuration and options. The latest addition is one of the lightest rugged convertible tablets, the Panasonic CF-C1, which uses special materials to achieve a total weight of 1.46 kg (1.61 kg with a second battery).
As of specs, the Panasonic CF-C1 is not shy on performance, offering in the base configuration an Intel Core i5-520M CPU at 2.4 GHz, a 250 GB HDD, 2GB RAM (why not 4 GB?), Windows 7 Professional OS plus three USB 2.0 slots, an SDXC slot, IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi, WiMAX, and Bluetooth 2.1+EDR. All in a package that accommodates a 12 inch multitouch screen with 1280 x 800 pixels resolution. We’ll keep you updated on this one.
