ASUS is set to combat the Tablet PC with low cost netbooks

Now that tablets are catching up with consumer preferences it seems that netbooks are falling back in sales and user interest. Sure  a netbook is flexible in the sense that you can do pretty much everything with it that you would do with a normal computer, it lasts a lot, comparable to some tablets, but it's not as speedy at those tasks and you can't use it without standing at a desk or on a chair/sofa. Plus netbooks are bigger and heavier that tablets. Now throw into the equation the fact netb...

Microsoft and ASUS are advertising the EEE Slate EP121 together

One of the best Windows 7 tablets to date is the EEE Slate EP121 from ASUS. It's for sale right now and there should be quite a few people interested in it. I'm not talking about the iPad 2 loving crowd, but consumers who need a flexible operating system that allows them to install any app they want (like any Windows version) and the ability to work on a mobile device without having to carry around a lot of weight (2.53 lbs) and without giving up on performance at the same time (the Core i5 CPU...

Adobe Flash 10.2 for Android is here: it’s not very stable

We all know the story with the Motorola Xoom, which didn't get Adobe Flash support at launch a few weeks ago, somehow nullifying the biggest advantage of Android tablets over the iPad. We've reported at that time that Adobe is working on bringing Flash support to Honeycomb as soon as possible and apparently it did just that, as of today you can update/install Adobe Flash 10.2 on your Android devices.Currently only versions 2.2, 2.3 and 3.0.1+ are supported, with the first two benefiting fr...

WiFi only Dell Streak 7 shows up for $380

We've have a few posts here about the Dell Streak 7 tablet, the latest Dell tablet and we weren't too impressed with battery performance. This doesn't mean the Streak 7 is not a tablet worthy of your attention, especially since you can now pre-order it from Amazon for just $270.That's for the WiFi only version, the one I would buy no matter what tablet I would be choosing. $380 is a lot cheaper than what others are charging for tablets those days, getting closer to the pricing sweet spot I l...

The Toshiba Tablet shows up on Amazon without a proper name

Toshiba is not the company it used to be 10 years ago, at least when it comes to gadgets. Unfortunately we haven't seen too many amazing devices from Toshiba in a long time. They're still good when it comes to reliability, but something is missing and their latest tablet, still called Toshiba Tablet doesn't do anything to push the company to the top of the crop. Yeap, Toshiba wasn't able to come up with a good name after more than two months since the official presentation at CES 2011.What's...

Everybody is aligning prices after the 16 GB iPad 2

As a normal person that I am, I'm not always right. This is true for matters not related to tablets, but also for tablet stuff. Of course I'm happy when I get predictions right, and the one about tablet pricing levels was just confirmed by various sources that come into possession of  the pricing scheme planned by iPad 2 competitors for 2011. All important tablets that will launch this year will align their pricing to the 16 GB WiFi only iPad 2, the cheapest tablet from Apple right now (not ...

LG G-Slate/Optimus Pad gets previewed on video by lucky girl

LG is one of the companies teasing its tablets a lot since the official announcement at CES 2011. The other company is Samsung. What do those two have in common? Well, the most important thing right now is that none of them was able to bring their G-Slate/Optimus Pad and the Galaxy TAB 10.1 to market, so teasers is all we get for now. We don't know the official retail debut of those two, but we know LG is pushing its tablet through various channels, teasing its 3D capabilities. The latest tea...

Samsung teases it’s upcoming 8.9 inch tablet again

I'm sure I've told you about the upcoming Samsung 8.9 inch tablet that's due for official announcement on March 22nd. As that days approaches, Samsung likes to throw new teasers at us, this time on a bigger scale, showing a few frugal details of their new tablet. Don't expect specs form me, as I haven't got them, but I can tell you it doesn't seem like a wide format tablet, but something with a 4:3 ratio screen. I may be wrong, but the teaser shows clearly a squarish tablet with rounded edges (l...

Nokia patents design of N8 like tablet

When I think about Nokia I'm always sad, as I've been a fan of their smartphones for a long time. But the word I want to emphasize here is 'was'. Unfortunately, Nokia didn't managed to build a good phone in years, one that can compete with the best from Apple and Android. Add to this their awkward Symbian operating system and you have a sure recipe for disaster, which actually happened, forcing Nokia to partner with Microsoft, in a multi billion dollars move to set the Finnish company back on tr...

Motorola Xoom, WiFi only, costs 599$ and arrives on March 27th

Yes, it's finally official: Motorola is launching the WiFi only Xoom in US on March 27th and they got a really nice price for it: 599$. Before saying it's worse than the iPad 2 and costs more, take a moment and think about what Android offers in terms of flexibility compared to iOS and then look at the WiFi Xoom, that comes with 32 GB of internal flash storage and you'll see it's priced exactly like the 32 GB iPad 2. Sure I would have liked to see a 16 GB version priced right at 499$, but maybe ...
