There were quite a few rumors about ASUS' tablet plans for 2012, but only now, a few days before CES, the company started revealing its roadmap and estimates for this year's tablet market.Let's start with the 3G enabled Transformer Prime, a tablet ASUS said a few weeks ago it has no intention to manufacture. It seems management changed its opinion on this, and a Transformer Prime capable of connecting to GSM/UMTS/CDMA/EVDO/LTE/WiMax, or whichever networks Asus decides to support (not known a...
I know some of you have asked me about Toshiba AT200, the slimmest tablet announced in 2011, which unfortunately didn't make any kind of official retail appearance. Since Toshiba has started claiming it will launch the world's thinnest and lightest 10.1 inch tablet at CES, along with the slimmest and lightest 13.3 inch ultrabook I'm pretty sure the forgotten AT200 will make a new appearance.Maybe Toshiba will update the looks (not quite my style) and bring the specs into 2012. I know I'm ask...
The vast majority of iPad 3 rumors I've been posting about here on AllTouchTablet.com don't have what you would call a solid foundation. Most of them are from the "I know from a trustworthy source" category, but the one I'm going to share with you today has some solid evidence to back it up.In a recent iOS 5.1 beta (available for developers) it was found a mention about next gen iPad and iPhone coming with quad-core processors. This is not a new rumor, as you might recall, but more of a conf...
A few days ago when I wrote about the Google tablet, confirmed to arrive by Google's Chairman Eric Schmidt in a 6 months window, I said that this is probably going to be a 10 inch model. If we are to believe the latest rumors the Google Nexus will be a 7 inch tablet in direct competition with the Amazon Kindle Fire, so it will also be priced the same, at $199. It's interesting to see Android fighting Android, as I'm pretty sure no analyst had anticipated this last year. It's 100% sure it w...
In a market of consumers constantly looking for cheaper and more affordable tablets it's clear Acer wants a piece of the pie, since the manufacturer is known for providing cheap alternatives to its competitors on every segment it covers. While it can't beat the $199 asked for the Amazon Kindle Fire tablet quite yet, Acer's answer is the Iconia TAB A200, a classic 10 inch tablet powered by the already famous Nvidia Tegra 2 platform, but with a slightly better build product than last year's Ace...
Velocity Micro is known as a cheap tablet manufacturer (and other cheap gadgets), so it's no wonder their recently announced Cruz T507 and T510 tablets are priced starting at $150.But make no mistake, these are pretty potent tablets for the price you're paying. The Cruz T507 (7 inch tablet) comes with a 1.2 GHz ARM Cortex CPU, a 400 MHz Mali GPU, 512 MB RAM, 8 GB storage and a capacitive touch screen with 800 x 480 px resolution. The T510 (10 inch tablet) features a slim 8.9 mm body, a 4:...
Man, Transformer Prime news are coming so fast this year. After reported problems and the official Asus response I now have a little bit of good news: the 32 GB version of the Prime is available for purchase at Office Depot.Currently it's in stock, but it's hard to say for how long. Despite it's obvious problems this tablet is selling like hot cakes. The limited supply also makes it next to impossible to get it at this point.Hope ASUS comes back with an official statement about availab...
After yesterday's fiasco, I'm glad to see Asus responding officially to the issues that are plaguing the Transformer Prime tablet. It was to be expected since this is company's premium tablet at the moment. Now, let's take the response from ASUS USA, which denies any public relations posts from ASUS Italia, which basically said this morning this is a take it of leave it situation, when referring to the locked and 128 bit encrypted bootloader. The official statement says a bootloader unlock...
I think we all agree the most important Android tablet at this moment is the ASUS EEE Pad Transformer Prime, the first quad core slate powered by the Tegra 3 SoC (System on a Chip). Asus promised it won't delay it, like it happened with the 1st gen Transformer model, but in December availability was extremely limited. You can blame reduced production capacity for that, but it seems there are other small problems that plague this excellent tablet, as a recent forum thread shows users reporting...
2011 was not a good year for Microsoft when it comes to tablets, just like 2010, even if the company created some hype around the next generation operating system, Windows 8, which will work both on desktops, laptops, tablets and on x86, ARM processors at the same time (you read our articles about Win8 here). We already know a huge part of the Windows success story comes from the huge amount of partners Microsoft acquired, which make it possible for the Redmond giant to sell its products. The...
