We’ve talked before here about Nvidia’s tablet platform, which uses the Tegra system on a chip, developed especially for smartphones, PDAs and MIDs. Now it’s time to see what’s capable of on a short hands on preview done by Engadget in London with a prototype version of the Tegra Tablet powered by Windows CE operating system.
From this preview we’re glad to see that 720p video playback runs smoothly and that this tablet might be the first to use a wireless charging station, with magnetic contacts, just like the Palm Pre’s Touchstone. What we didn’t like was the 15-16 inch diagonal, which seems a little too much for a portable device. We also hope that when released it will use a more multitouch oriented OS, not the Windows CE used by not so touch friendly devices.
As expected there’s no data on release time, who will implement Tegra on touch tablets and at which price point.
