Remember what I’ve said about the Nav 9 slate type tablet powered by Atom? I said it was too expensive for what it offered, with prices between 799$ and 1399$, depending on configuration. This is way too much money to pay for Atom sluggishness, so they’ve lowered the starting price to 599$. Still expensive, but better nonetheless. For this amount of money you get the Atom N270 CPU clocked at 1.66 GHz, 2 GB RAM, 16 GB SSD drive, 8.9 multitouch display with 1024 x 600 pixels resolution, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth connectivity, optional 3G, SD memory card slot and three USB ports (that’s nice) and a 3-cell battery (not nice).
What’s not that encouraging is that the first batch of devices had problems with the touchscreen sensitivity, just like the Asus EEE PC T101MT sample I’ve received a while ago. Problems are solved now, but still prove that touch technology is not mature enough yet.
