Michael Arrington, one of the most influential figures on Internet these days, founder of TechCrunch and other online businesses announced a few months ago he’s working on a touch tablet device, not a fully fledged computer but some sort of an Internet Tablet with a 12 inch screen and a customized, powerful web browser capable of rendering even the most complex websites. The speculated name is CrunchPad.

For a few months it seemed the project was canceled or delayed till an unknown place in time, but Michael Arrington dismissed those rumors a few days ago, citing that the tablet it still in works and will hit market at prices around 300-400 $ value. That seems a pretty large amount of money for a touch device that doesn’t have the full functionality of a computer.

Arrington says that now he’s exploring possibilities of cutting CrunchPad’s price down even further and is negotiating soft revenue and sponsorship opportunities. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see what happens in the end.

This is now the CrunchPad should look like
