If there’s one constant in the gadget world it must be the fact that great designs are always copied, not just by Chinese manufacturers but also by big manufactures seeking success. If you remember the iPhone launch, the first company to announce a product with similar design was Meizu, one of China’s leading MP3 player manufacturers. The M8 clone was very similar with the iPhone, offered bigger internal memory and copied almost everything from button layout to user interface.

The M8 really was the product that Meizu concentrated on for a long time, loosing sight from its competition in China, and all this did for them was bad financial results, for a company that wasn’t perceived at that time as a copy cat. It seems now that ‘fans‘ of the Meizu brand are releasing artistic renderings of a Meizu device called mPad, that looks suspiciously similar to the Apple iPad.

    No Meizu mPad for you

    No Meizu mPad for you

It seems tough that Meizu learned its lesson as the company CEO made an official statement that they don’t have any plans of releasing the mPad or another Apple similar product. If this will be the case I bet Meizu can get their own designs to market and set them apart again from the copy cat crowd, but let’s just sit and wait, as speculations are not going to be any good without being backed up by evidence of change.
