When I first saw the UMPC concept, a very small PC that fits the palm of your hand but offers all the power a regular PC has made me think: that’s what I was looking for. Things evolved, OQO had risen and falled, but small Japanese companies are still managing to put a lot of power into a very small device, so naturally the market advanced and Kohjinsha come up with the PA series of UMPC/MID convertible touch tablets.

Small but capable
What we have here si basically a touch tablet with a 4.3 inch screen (1024 x 600 pixels) and an Atom 1.33 GHz CPU, so basically you have the power of a netbook in an even smaller form factor: 6.34″ x 4.37″ x 0.39-1.02″. The thing that you’ll definitely not like is the price: ~860 $, almost as much as the Sony Vaio P, a much more sophisticated device. No word on 3G connectivity yet.
Pre-orders have started so expect the Kohjinsha PA to become available in the month to come. If you die for a small touch tablet this might be it.
