If the iPad was the most rumored touch tablet in 2009 and the beginning of this year then JooJoo tablet was certainly the most controversial tablet as it still got a lawsuit from Crunchgear who wants to take their rights back since the involvement in the development of JooJoo was negated by Fusion Garage a few months ago. We’re not going to revive this story again in this post but merely update you on what’s going on with JooJoo, the slate type tablet that resembles the iPad the most.

Well, since the official announcement of the iPad, Fusion Garage’s CEO says that pre-orders of JooJoo have increased substantially but didn’t mentioned any numbers. As a plus, they’ve signed a deal with a big Taiwanese OEM manufacturer that will handle production and will get a single digit percentage from the price of every sold JooJoo (it seems not a verz good deal for that OEM manufacturer).

Again Chandra Rathakrishnan, the CEO of Fusion Garage told the press that JooJoo was announced way before of Apple iPad, which clearly copied them (that’s really what he said) but they don’t seem to concerned about the ‘white’ competition and plan to release JooJoo with full Flash support and will add Flash HD support when version 10.1 reaches final built. Also the 12 inch screen with 720p resolution is supposed to offer a complete browsing experience you would expect from a 2010 device.

Fusion Garage also acknowledges the advantages of an AppStore so they plan on releasing one too, with a nice simple API that will allow developers to build applications for JooJoo. My take on this is that in a few years developers will get sick of coding apps for a dozen different AppStore and will militate for an unified architecture/standard.

Till then we should wait for JooJoo to start shipping, which is supposed to be sometime this month. I’ll keep you posted on how things go from now.
