It’s not the first time we’ve presented interactive tables on AllTouchTablet.com but it’s the first time we show you a flexible one, that bends when touched like the Impress Flexible Interactive Display. Basically Impress prototype’s is a foam fitted with pressure sensors and a projector on top that detects users point of interaction. Coupled with the info gathered from the pressure sensors the device is able to ‘understand’ user actions and act accordingly.

This prototype can be used in applications like 3D Modeling where you can draw the object  by pressing harder on the parts you want to change. Other uses showcased in the video below include browsing a gallery of pictures, composing music and reading the news. One thing to be noted is that the on top projector has the advantage of displaying the images over your hand, so you won’t block any  part of the display for others, like it happens on regular interactive tables. Impress is just a prototype but I do hope it will make its way to consumers as it really impressed us.
