With every big name out there announcing tablets or plans to build tablets, every eye looks at HTC to see what they would come up with, but they’re in for a surprise, as HTC announced officially through their global PR and online Community Manager, Eric Lin, that there isn’t going to be a HTC tablet any time soon.

It’s not that they don’t want to jump right in, but they don’t feel right now they have something different to attract customers. HTC doesn’t want to be just another company that does Android tablets (maybe with a customized graphical UI like they do on smartphones). It’s hard not to agree with them. Just search for “android” here on All Touch Tablet and you’ll see a lot of products that are very similar in looks and functionality.

There’s no way such devices could ever take on iPad, successfully, if you don’t add something different to it to attract users. HTC is actually pretty smart on this one, as I’m betting they’re working hard to come up with interesting ideas for the year to come.
