UPDATE: HP TM2 is now in stores. You can get one for as little as 881$.

If you were to name one big notebook manufacturer who doesn’t have a touch tablet in its lineup or doesn’t plan to launch one I bet you’ll have a hard time doing so. HP, like any respectable manufacturer, is preparing a convertible type tablet device (they had those for years, but they were expensive) using Intel CULV CPUs.

There aren’t pictures yet with the HP TM2 but we have some details of the TM2-1070US version which will feature a 1.3 GHz CPU, 4 GB RAM, 12.1 inch screen, 4500MHD Intel integrated graphics (so we’ll have crappy 3D performance) and a 320 GB Hard drive. As expected for 2010 the screen will support multi touch inputs. A fingerprint scanner puts the HP TM2 into the small-medium business segment but I doubt this plays well with the laser etched aluminum body with custom design, but hey, at least your data is secure.

Still no pictures with the HP TM2

…not so for your money as you’ll have to pay 1099$ for the base model. eCost listed this price but also had put an “out of stock” label on in so you’ll have to wait a little till it gets here. [source]
