This is from the series “my printer is smarter than your phone“. It seems that HP has big plans for WebOS, which he got by purchasing Palm, and that’s to include it in every gadget possible, even in the ones that don’t make much sense, like printers. Yeap, that’s right, HP wants to put a mobile OS on some of their printers.
It makes some sense, but not much, as printers already have apps running from firmware that allow you to print pictures from online storing services, can edit them before printing and can send scans via email for example.
Of course HP didn’t made too much noise about this, so there’s not much else to add, but I’m sure this year we’ll find out exactly what they’re talking about once they release their first WebOS tablets and, probably, printers.
