We’ve been saying a few months ago that Samsung has some plans for tablets in 2010. It is quite normal considering that everyone is thinking about them, both consumers and manufacturers. This is a market opportunity no one affords to miss, not even a giant like Samsung.
Recently, Emmanuele Silanesu, national product and marketing manager for Samsung Australia’s IT division, made a statement saying that we’ll see a Samsung slate type tablet on market in the H2 2010, with a clear focus on consumer market, so expect at least decent multimedia capabilities. Also to be noted is that Samsung puts a high price on PC-grade processing power and connectivity, so we might get a powerful tablet, not one with netbook hardware inside, like the ASUS EEE PC T101MT or some other netbook tablets that are always leaving me unsatisfied by the way they perform in day to day apps.
HP better hurry up with its Slate Tablet or else they’ll be beaten by everyone to the finish line. This is got to be an interesting year for IT geeks, right?
