On paper, the Gigabyte T1000P netvertible is one of the best around, hell, we’ve even put it in our list of the best netvertibles, despite its apparent problems. We are glad to find out that Gigabyte is preparing a successor, the T1005M, one that bears the new dual core Atom N550 chip, characterized by many as the first speedy low power netbook CPU. Speedy because it’s almost twice as fast, while consuming less than twice the power, as the official TDP is 8.5 Watts (see a few benchmarks of Atom N550 here).

As for the new netvertible, Gigabyte calls it the T1005M, clearly to make users understand it’s from the T1000 family. Feature wise is almost the same as the predecessor, and it was already listed on an Australian website for almost 800 USD (hope this is not the final price!). Let’s see in short the specs of the Gigabyte T1005M:

    • CPU: Intel Atom Dual Core Processor N550(1.5GHz)
    • OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium
    • Chipset: Intel NM10 Express chipset
    • RAM: 2 GB DDR 3
    • Video Chip: Intel GMA3150
    • LCD: 10.1″ HD Ready, WXGA 1366×768, LED back-light , capacitive multi touch
    • HDD: 320GB 2.5″ S-ATA
    • WiFi, Bluetooth
    • Battery: Li-ion 6 cell, 41Wh, 7650mAh
    • Weight: ~1.48kg

If Gigabyte manages to solve its quality issues I bet this one will be better than the Asus T101MT convertible netbook tablet.
