I’m sure I’ve mentioned here once or twice the Gigabyte T1000 netvertible series, consisting of T1000P and T1000X models, both with similar configurations. Now that the dust has settled on the announcement news it’s time to get to the real moment consumers are waiting: availability of the Gigabyte T1000P, which just now surfaced on Amazon.com for a pretty steep 699$ price. It’s in preorder with availability starting July 1st.
This puts it 200 bucks north of the ASUS EEE PC T101MT, the most important convertible tablet that has surfaced this year (see the current best netvertible list here).
But price is not necessarily the most important point here. Configuration is important and how it handles compared to the ASUS T101MT and Lenovo S10-3t. So let’s see in short the main specs of Gigabyte T1000p, the best of the T1000 series:
- Windows® Starter OS
- Intel® AtomTM Processor N470 1.83GHz
- 10.1″ Touch TFT-LCD WSVGA, 1366×768 with LED backlit, capacitive with multi touch
- Mobile Intel®945GSE Express Chipset+ ICH7M
- Embedded HSDPA Support
- 2.5″ 9.5mm SATA HDD 5400rpm, 250 GB
- Multi-Touch Mousepad
- Battery Li-ion 6 cells, ~7650mAh Battery

Gigabyte T1000P netvertible
It’s clear that the screen of the Gigabyte T1000P is great thanks to the higher resolution and capacitive touchscreen technology. The 6 cell 7650 mAh battery is also a behemoth (it sticks out the back of the netvertible) that should provide at least 8 hours of juice, more than what ASUS and Lenovo are capable of, but again, we have to test this claim before jumping to conclusions. It’s interesting to see HSDPA 3.5G support out of the box (some of the additional cost comes from it I must admit). All in all the Gigabyte T1000P is a netvertible we can’t wait to test here at AllTouchTablet.com. You can preorder your below directly from Amazon:
It seems gigabyte debut the almost ideal tablet as asked in this tablet article net, at least this moment on.
If the ATOM 470 is advanced and smooth enough than the 450. If it has a GPS function or travelling road map, if it can be switched between finger writing and pen writing, if its screen is ease on pen writing notes. if ……..,
oh, when is the try out time by John? I am expecting.
I hope in a few weeks (2-3) to test it, as I got word from Gigabyte that it’s ready for press time :)
So i ordered one of these last week, and it was Dead On Arrival (DOA) I know that this happens sometimes so i sent it back and got a replacement for it.
This one arrived Just yesterday and it was DOA as well! I don’t know what kind of quality control is going on over at Gigabyte but this is ridiculous so i got my money back.
They have now released a new T1005M with a Dual core atom processor and USB3.0 capabilities. I think that they knew that this netvertible was unstable which is why they have come out with a new netvertible so quickly.
Either way, completely unimpressed by this, and i suggest that everyone go for the ASUS T101MT.
Matthew, that’s unbelievable. I’ve tested a lot of gigabyte motherboard in my early hardware editor year, and a lot of them were DOA, but in time they seemed to fix this quality issue with their products, but it seems I was wrong :)
Hi John,
I know, and the most frustrating thing is that on paper and just reading around the T1000P seems to be the better candidate for the money, but after this experience with Gigabyte I won’t recommend them to my customers. This all being said I have pretty bad luck with receiving DOA or faulty electronics or computer equipment, but never have I received two DOA of the same item consecutively. Just the probability of that is extremely rare which seems to indicate to me that there would be an extremely high percentage of faulties for this netvertible. Or maybe i am just that unlucky :P
I know what you’re saying. For me too the Gigabyte T1000P seems the clear winner as hardware specs concerned. But there’s so much more that counts here…
A new T1005M with a Dual core atom processor and USB3.0 capabilities, great on paper also.
I have seen the spec., but anyone knows what is the street
I just checked with the internet news, suggested price is US 800. Pricey with Win 7 beginner OS?
Other ATOM 550 models might be cheaper. Should I wait?
Probably you will get it for around 600-650$ when it will appear in more online shops.
It’s a mystery for me why Gigabyte netvertibles are so expensive, especially compared to its main competitor ASUS.
