If you work full time in a rough environment then you need rugged computing gear to be able to keep on working. The Getac V200 is a rugged Tablet PC that is able to withstand MIL-STD-810G and IP65 ruggedness standards for dust, vibration, temperatures as low as -20 degrees Celsius plus can take a shower with you (if you really need to check your email while showering). The specs are top notch including a 2.0GHz Intel Core i7-620LM processor, an optional 80 GB SSD drive and data protection features like smartcard reader, fingerprint scanner and hardware encryption.
Besides the WiFi connection Bluetooth 2.1, USB, VGA, RS232, eSATA, an SD card reader and PCMCIA cards are supported by the Getac V200. Add the options for GPS and 3G-Gobi 2000 and there’s nothing there you would need to work in the most inhabitable places on Earth. And, as an interesting fact, a downside that’s actually an upside: the screen is resistive, so you can work on it with you gloves. And speaking of the 12 inch multitouch screen: it is capable of 1,200 nit of luminosity, enough to work easily in direct sunlight.
Don’t ask for the price because, one, we don’t know and two, it should be enough to get an item of each tablet presented at IFA Berlin 2010. You’ll be able to drop it on the floor staring October, through Getac distributors.
