Netbooks are great as portable devices and can help you get some work done when traveling, but don’t expect too much from such a small screen and slow CPU, so almost anything is possible but in small amounts. Even if battery life is great there’s not much you can do if you want to watch a HD movie (I’m not encouraging piracy) or watch Flash HD playback on Youtube, Hulu, Vimeo and other websites. The problem lies in the integrated graphics, Intel kind, that is not powerful enough to support such thing.

That’s also the reason Apple didn’t include Flash support for iPad, because it drains the battery quickly and isn’t smooth. Adobe has taken good care past months to get hardware acceleration for integrated graphics in their Flash Player and is proudly presenting Flash 10.1 Beta 3 which adds support for GMA 500, the chip inside Asus EEE PC T91 and other convertible netbooks. Support is getting better and Adobe says they’re putting a lot of work to support a broader range of devices. Below there’s a picture with 720p Flash playing in browser on an Asus EEE PC T91.
