We’ve first mentioned the HP slate tablet PC at the beginning of this year, during CES, when it was first announced by Microsoft. Since then we’ve only heard rumors that it’ll be available this year, that it will be expensive, but nothing for sure. Today things are getting more clear as a Spanish tech website found out that the starting price of the HP Slate will be 400 EUR in Europe, which amounts to around 550 $, but officially we can even see lower pricing as we all know the vast majority of gadgets imported from US to Europe have prices calculated at a 1:1 parity ratio (not correct but that’s how it goes).

Another new info is a small list of things we’ll get inside the HP Slate: Atom CPU, SSD storage, Flash support, USB ports, card reader, rear mounted webcam and Windows 7 OS (Starter or Home Premium). No word on 3G modem though. I have to admit I’m quite disappointed with the choice of an Atom CPU, way too slow for my tastes, but maybe the SSD hard drive will help speed up things a little bit. About availability they say it will be here in June, but I won’t believe that till I read an official announcement from HP.
