As you can imagine, the turn consumer did towards tablets means a lot of manufacturers are trying their luck with this new niche, but not all of them have the expertize and power to build something truly unique, like Apple did with the iPad. Hell, not even names like HP, Dell, Microsoft come up with something better than the iPad. EzGear doesn’t try to be the best (good for them), but has its own concept, a 7 inch tablet powered by Android called Surfboard 700. It doesn’t look like something powerful, but might be good enough (and hopefully cheap) for users trying to get a taste of what tablet computing means.
Unfortunately, EzGear doesn’t say which version of Android is powering the Surfboard 700, or how cheap it will be. They only say you can reserve one and you’ll have access to a lot of apps in the Android application store. Again, we don’t know if they’re talking about the Android Marketplace, or a custom lame ass app store, but I guess we’ll find out soon enough. Till then here are the specs of EzGear Surfboard 700:
- 7-inch 800 x 480 pixel touchscreen display
- Wi-Fi b/g
- 2-megapixel camera with built-in microphone
- HDMI output
- microSD card expansion
- Up to 20 hours of music playback
- Up to 10 hours of video playback
- 0.6 inch thickness
