We’ve presented a while ago the EviGoup Paddle (called then simply “Pad’), a netbook slate running Windows 7, nothing too special. Most small manufacturers choose netbook hardware which is then ‘adjusted’ to a slate format.

The Evigroup Paddle has one major inconvenient: it’s expensive, very expensive, even compared to the iPad, with prices ranging from $732 to $854. That’s a lot to ask from a device that’s no different than a netbook without a keyboard and a capacitive touchscreen slapped over the 10 inch screen with low resolution, 1024 x 600 pixels. But there’s an advantage to that: the Windows 7 interface is more precise, as pixels are bigger.

But let’s not dismiss EviGroup Paddle from start and see what it offers for this kind of cash:

    • Atom N270 1.6GHz CPU
    • 1GB RAM
    • 10 inch capacitive multitouch display (1024 x 600 pixels)
    • 160 GB HDD
    • WiFi, optional 3G
    • 990 grams
    • 2.5 – 3 hours battery life
    • LAN, VGA, 3 USB 2.0 ports, SD/MMC/MS card reader
    • 1 year warranty

You can get the EviGroup Paddle directly from the manufacturer’s website (I couldn’t find another online store that offers it). Even if they’re in France, they ship internationally. If you want to find out more there’s a short video below hat demoes the EviGroup Paddle, along with some of the custom software pieces made by EviGroup:
