If you thought the dual screen netbook/tablet MSI prototype was cool wait till I tell you about the enTourage eDGe dualbook: a strange mix between a touch screen tablet and an eReader glued together like siamese twins. There’s two devices inside the enTourage eDGe, each one of them with its own advantages and disadvantages as the eReader can’t display full color pictures and videos while the netbook isn’t suited for long periods of reading.
That’s why this marvelous concept brought two different gadgets together: you can play movies and see pictures, open links from the book you’re reading on the eReader by drag and dropping them to the netbook screen, which is connected to Internet via WiFi so streaming is also possible.

enTourage eDGe dualbook: really different
From hardware specs point of view we have a 9.7 inch eInk screen reader and a 10.1 inch color LCD for the tablet running Android OS. By far the coolest part is the communication between the ‘twins” as you can highlight a word on the eReader and it’s being searched over the Internet. You can also add notes to a book you’re reading, notes which are transferred to the netbook tablet for storage. If you plan on using just the netbook functions of the enTourage eDGe then you can fold the eReader screen and use it as a laptop computer stand.

Fold it like you please
You can watch both screens at the same time or fold them one on the back of the other and concentrate on what’s most important at that time. Thanks to the large screen, the eReader is very easy to read and use, plus it comes with side buttons that help navigation inside an eBook. Actual writing is possible thanks to a virtual keyboard that pops up on the netbook screen or you have the option of connecting a Bluetooth enabled keyboard. Battery life is rated at 6 hours with the LCD screen and 7 days with the eReader. Combined life really depends on your usage patterns
The enTourage eDGe dualbook will sell shortly for 499$ which is not that much given the WOW factor but consumer reaction is still something we’ll have to see.
