I wrote earlier this week about RIM getting a new CEO and somehow confirming a 3G+ enabled Blackberry Playbook tablet for some time later this year, and then a completely new model (probably 10 inches) in Q4, but these were mere rumors.

Now I’ve found a leaked document (or at least that’s what the footer says) that gives a few details of the new 7 inch 3G+ Blackberry Playbook tablet.

The slides not only shows that the new Playbook will indeed look a lot like the old model (at least from the front, as I don’t know how it looks on the back), also there are some notable performance enhancements I’m going to detail now.

The Texas Instruments CPU was now upgraded to the OMAP 4460 model, also dual core, but clocked higher at 1.5 GHz (vs the old 1GHz processor),  RAM stays the same, but it seems there’s 32GB of storage now for the base model (or the only model), a NFC chip (Near Field Communication) and the most important part, a 42 Mbps HSPA+ chip.

The rest of specs are identical to the current Playbook (read them here). As expected, the document doesn’t say anything about availability and pricing, but I hope to get some official clues once RIM launches the Software Update 2.0, you know which one, the one with native Email, Calendar, Contacts and BBM. Here are the two slides (don’t tell anyone, they’re secret!):
