Now that Apple is getting serious about touch tablets it seems that other producers too are testing this perspective, one of them being Dell, with a recently leaked MID 5 inch touch device using Android operating system.

As you might expect there’s not too much info available right now, beside the 5 inch 800 x 480 pixels resolution touch screen, 3G connectivity and WiFi on-board. Suggested Android OS version is 1.6.

UPDATE: Dell has launched this MID, called Streak and advertises it as a small tablet with smartphone functionality.

Unlike other MIDs, the Dell “Streak”, as it was called for now, has a pretty powerful 5 megapixel camera with dual LED flash lights, accompanied by a front facing VGA camera for video calls. The battery is not impressive at all, as I suspect a 1300 mAh battery won’t last a full day of really heavy use.

Below there’s a short video presenting the device (with a nice background music). Being just a prototype, the interface seems pretty sluggish at some moments, but I hope that will be solved in the final version.
