It’s been a long time since we’ve seen the Dell Streak Mini 5 tablet showing around in various prototype forms but now it’s time to watch it again on Dvorak’s Cranky Geeks IT show, where one of his guests had one of those prototypes and cared to present it a little. It seems the prototype is a little more polished than the last time we’ve seen it and was running a high bitrate movie trailer with ease. There was some speculation going on about pricing which apparently will be somewhere around 300 $, subsidized with an AT&T contract for GSM voice and data.
Personally I believe that such type of small tablets have a better chance as a mobile device than the iPad, thanks to the pocketable size (somewhat) and the fact that they bring a lot of screen real estate to your palm compared to smartphones. Pricing though will be a pressing issue. If I have to choose between the 499$ iPad and a 5 inch Android tablet that costs 300$ I believe I’ll go with the first one. Here’s a link where you can watch the entire Cranky Geeks episode. The Dell Mini 5 Streak shows up around minute 11.
