There are already many news on the net about Dell’s Mini 5 tablet, codenamed Streak at first. Now the Techcrunch guys had the chance to catch one in the hands of Michael Dell, CEO of Dell, who gave it a short rundown of the device, a 5 inch tablet running Android, powered by a 1 GHz Snapdragon CPU. It seems that the biggest drawback of this device will be it’s price, which hovers around the 1000$ mark unsubsidized. Plus I don’t get the 5 inch screen: why not get the HTC Touch HD2, a 4.3 inch smartphone which runs on the same powerful hardware as the Dell Mini 5.

Dell Mini 5 it's a common looking tablet
I hope Dell knows what it’s doing with this tablet as they need something in the touch tablet arena that can get some market share from Apple, HP and all the other manufacturers who presented their prototypes at CES 2010. And lower the price Dell: it’s madness to pay 1000$ on a 5 inch slate tablet.
