It looks like gaming on tablets has started to become pretty sophisticated, with old titles like Grand Theft Auto III being ported to the new mobile platforms, since current tablets are capable of handling 5-6 years old titles pretty well.
The latest title to get developer’s attention is Counter Strike, a very popular multiplayer first person shooter a few years ago (I got lots of F grades by playing it in college). This is not an official version, like GTA III, but a port made by the guys at XDA Forums.
There are two versions available at this time, one for Android 2.3 devices and up and one for versions 2.0+. There’s even a special version that take advantage of the hardware gaming keys on the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play. All versions are cross platform, which meas you can play/fight with someone on a PC and was developed, from the ground up I’m being told, by using the Unity3D engine.
The software is still in very early development stage, but I wouldn’t mind trying it out just to see how it can handle FPS action with a touchscreen control interface (I expect a looong learning curve here).
