Guess who might be working right now on its own tablet! RIM, they are and they’re not ashamed to use the same model as the iPad: they use a special variant of Blackberry OS to power the device, but unlike Apple they plan on using an 8.9 inch screen which could make the device smaller and thinner, something we would all like. I suppose RIM is planning on doing something more business oriented (like Cisco) so expect full synchronization with a Blackberry device and your account so you’ll always be updated if you have access to an Internet connection.
Those are just rumors, except the fact that RIM actually ordered the screens already, and I don’t think they’re planning a big screen smartphone. Given the interest Blackberry has shown in Apple technologies lately, namely the inclusion of CoverFlow type media interface to Blackberry OS 6.0 and some touch elements, it’s clear to me that Blackberry plans to watch closely and imitate, where possible, successful moves.
