Asus is really trying hard to conquer new markets to increase its sales and one of those fields is the raising slate tablet niche, where Apple is king of rumors right now with it’s yet unannounced slate tablet. Asus is known to work on a touch tablet (called EEE Pad by journalists) but not much info was released. We won’t add too much to the old rumors but we have something somewhat official to share with you.

It seems that Corporate Vice President Eric Chen told TechRadar that Asus has serious plans to release a slate type tablet always connected to Internet using the Tegra 2 chipset announced at CES 2010. What’s more interesting is that Asus is following Apple’s model and is in talks with Telcos and other content providers to get a marketplace/library where people can purchase books, magazine subscriptions and other forms of written material. If they are to succeed at this they must make it generally available to all their products as Asus is big enough to push developers to create content, especially if they have something to gain from this.
