ASUS, the brand that invented netbooks is one of the slowest to adhere to slate tablets trend as it didn’t announce anything yet but rumors say it will release the EEE Pad (the most probable name) just in time for Computex trade show with a price around the 500 $ mark and will use the Tegra 2 chipset capable of Full HD decoding. The OS is not yet known but it won’t be based on Windows CE.

My take is the 500 $ speculated price point is too big, especially given the use of a mobile chipset, not Atom based, something which should drive prices down, not up, but we don’t have any confirmation on those rumors. As always follow AllTouchTablet.com to get update on touch tablet matters.
