As Windows 7 was released yesterday, all manufacturers rushed to launch a bunch of products with the new OS. You all know that Windows 7 comes with native touchscreen support, so it’s no wonder that a few touchtablets hit the market, one of them being the Archos 9 PCTablet. From specs you soon realize you got a disguised netbook with no hardware keyboard, as we have a 8.9 inch resistive touch screen and an Intel Atom CPU Z510 at 1.1GHz.

The features continue with 1GB on-board memory, a 60 GB hard drive, WiFi, Bluetooth, Ethernet 10/100 Mbps, microphone, two speakers, 2 USB 2.0 ports, 1.3 megapixel webcam and 3.5mm audio jack. Navigation is done via an optical touch-point and two mouse buttons. When text input is necessary a virtual QWERTY keyboard can be accessed on-screen.
I think you all are interested in estimated battery life, which is 5 hours, a nice number given the 800 grams weight. If you wonder about the Win 7 version, the Archos 9 PCTablet comes with Windows 7 Starter Edition. On price and availability I can tell you that the Archos 9 PCTablet will sell for 499$, and the status in “Coming soon”.
