The source for 2012 iPad, Android and tablet PC news, reviews and accessories guides
Now that the iPad is just around the corner with shipping of preorders already started yesterday it seems madness that any other producer tries to release its own tablet at the same time, in a pathetic attempt to steal the thunder from Apple. Well, it seems that someone is fullish enough, and maybe that’s because they’re from France (ha ha, joke). It’s about Archos and their Archos 7 Internet tablet which we’ve presented a few weeks ago when it surfaced at CeBIT.
What strikes me, besides the launch date, is the name, as I’ve seen it being called Archos 7 Internet Tablet in some places and Archos 7 Home Tablet in others. Well, we’ll leave this for you to decide. What you can’t change is the 7 inch screen with 800 x 480 pixels resolution, the Android OS and the very affordable price, estimated at 199$ for the 8 GB version, with rumors about a 149$ 2GB version already on the air. This thing is cheap because it has a slower CPU, not the ARM Cortex A8 found in the Archos 5 MID. It remains to be seen what’s Archos strategy when it comes to Archos 7, but I bet they don’t know for sure what to do with it, especially since we know they’re working on a completely new series of tablets with resolutions from 3 to 10 inches, but that’s another story, for later.
