Believe it or not this is not a post about Apple’s tablet, but just a mere rumor about Thomson and Technicolor, two french companies who are building a touch tablet called PoMMeS, which in English means “apples”. The PoMMeS is meant more like a wireless multimedia playback device, featuring an 8 inch screen (800 x 480 pixels resolution) operated with a stylus, two front speakers, a web cam and a D-pad shaped controller for navigation. From connectivity point of view we have USB, microphone, headphones and power jack in the lower part. A stand is used to watch movies with the tablet laying on a flat surface, inclined a few degrees from horizontal.

Power comes from a Texas Instruments DaVinci system-on-a-chip and a Xilinx processor. The device is still in FCC’s courtyard for testing but I expect new info to surface soon so stay tuned to AllTouchTablet.com for the followup.
