Touchscreen is part of our future, that’s for sure, but others are seeking alternative to it till it becomes mainstream, others in this case being ASUS and Bang and Olufsen which teamed up to build the NX90, a luxurious multimedia laptop with one interesting feature you won’t find anywhere else: two integrated touchpads mounted side by side the black keyboard, contrasting with the sleek aluminum finish of the casing of this 18.4 inch monster.

Nice design and features for the ASUS NX90
The hardware configuration is magnificent by today’s standards: Core i7 CPU, full HD display, GeForce GT 335M, dual hard drives (no word if we’ll have RAID configuration), Blu-ray drive and a very conscious price ranging between 1799$ to 2499$, depending on configuration. It might seem much but given the configuration and B&O’s involvement I say it’s a bargain.

Design makes us want the NX90
Now let’s get back to the two touchpads mentioned earlier, mounted where you least expect (not least actually, least would be on the back of the display). ASUS delivers a special software called Rotation Desktop Control which takes advantage of the hardware features and provides two-handed control for music and other media. As sound is a part of the multimedia experience the NX90 laptop features two speakers protruding on both sides of the screen. If you want to buy one you’ll have to wait till March, but I say it’s worth waiting. [source]

Two touchpards are crazy
Update: Engadget posted a short video that better shows how the two touchpard work at the same time, but it just messes the mouse cursor, so no intelligent multitouch simulation (or maybe not yet).
