One of the most interesting tablets at CES 2012 was the Acer Iconia TAB A700 (our preview with video here), mainly because it features the best components of 2012, from what I can gather: 1.3 Ghz Quad Core Tegra 3 processor, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and a Full HD 1920 x 1080 pixels gorgeous IPS screen.

ASUS and Lenovo will offer similar tablets, but this time Acer seems to be on the same page with build quality (see the picture at the end of this post). Now we’ve got a hint about the pricing (in Europe, like we got word about the €500 Acer Iconia Tab A510), which mentions €549 as the required amount to own the 16GB version, taxes included.

I’ve seen others saying this amounts to $720 in US, but we all know when things get from Europe to US (and viceversa) the actual conversion ratio used is 1:1, so were looking probably at something like $550 for the base Acer Iconia A700. The 64GB model will sell for €749. Probably in the middle there will be a €649 32GB model. Since the ASUS EEE Pad Transformer Prime sells for $500 (the 32GB model) I expect the Tranformer TF700T (also with a Full HD screen) to align to a similar pricing.

Paying 50-100 dollars more just to get a Full HD screen is not a huge amount, if you ask me, as I can see the difference a good screen makes in a laptop, so why not apply this credo to tablets. I’ll let you know when official pricing is revealed by Acer.

Acer Iconia Tab A700, not a bad looking tablet
