After debuting at CES 2012, tablets have started to get in line for the consumer launch, the one that really matters, as only then you’re able to buy the model you like.

Today I’ve found out about the pricing and availability of the Acer Iconia TAB A510, one of the company’s quad-core models (the other being the Iconia A700). As a reminder, the A510 is basically an A700 minus the Full HD screen (1280 x 800 px instead of 1920 x 1080 px). Doesn’t sound like much but I’m sure it’s a huge difference in screen quality for those with good eyesight.

Anyway, Acer is going to bring the A510 in Europe first, this April, for a not so happy €500, which means $500 in US, the same price as the ASUS EEE Pad Transformer Prime, a similar tablet, but with the ability to dock into an external keyboard with a second battery (sold separately). Also one small mention, it seems that the base A510 tablet will have only 16GB of internal storage (ASUS has jumped to 32GB already).

This kind of price doesn’t make me particularly happy, but there’s not much I can do. I just hope Acer realizes the mistake and adjusts the price accordingly, especially in a market that demands cheaper tablets.
