Remember the Acer Aspire 1825PTZ and 1825PT? Many said it would be just like the 1820PT, a product that never really showed up in stores, but the second time it seems Acer did a good job and managed to ship the product in time, so Aspire 1825PTZ just got unboxed somewhere in Germany.
To recall things a bit, Acer Aspira 1825PTZ is a convertible tablet powered by an Intel Ultra Low Voltage CPU, the SU4100 (dual core) and features a capacitive multi touch display with 11.6 inch diagonal and 720p resolution. Other specs include 4 GB RAM, 320 GB Hard drive, Windows 7 Home Premium (so you get all the multi touch features the OS can provide) plus WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity.

Acer 1825PTZ unboxed
From the unboxing video below you can see that the word that dominates this tablet is ‘glossy’: the screen is glossy, the case is glossy and this doesn’t necessarily speaks good on its behalf, as it will be a fingerprint magnet and a nightmare to look at the screen outdoors. Anyway, the keyboard is nice, a combination between chiclet and a normal keyboard, the touchpad supports multitouch, but is too small in everyone’s opinion. Battery life should be at least 5 hours of normal use, thanks to the pretty bulky 6-cell 5600 mAh power plant that increases the overall thickness of the device.
Price is 600 EUROS in Europe, so expect 700-800$ in US, a big jump up from the ASUS T101MT and Lenovo S10-3t, but you also get way better performance. If I were to get a convertible tablet now, I would go for the Acer Aspire 1825PTZ in a flash.
