Acer seems to be more and more interested in bringing touch tablet laptops to market and stimulate demand for this newish type of product. I can’t blame them, as Apple rumors have started to fire up consumers and make them wonder if it’s not the time for a touch tablet.

The newest product presented recently in Asia by Acer, is the 1420p model, a cross breed between a 11.6 inch netbook with the hardware of the original Timeline: Intel Core 2 Duo SU2300 Celeron CPU, 2GB RAM, 250 GB hard drive and Windows 7 Home Premium (no Starter Edition, which is good). The keyboard remains the same, but the casing is now glossier than ever, which I don’t particularly like.

Also, like other Timeline products, the Acer 1420p is rated by the manufacturer at 8 hours of continuous use, thanks to the low voltage CPU and the 62.16 W 5600 mAh 6-cell Li-ion battery pack. This touch tablet laptop/netbook is supposed to come in stores in November at an undisclosed price. It it’s below the Timeline’s price I’ll buy one with my eyes closed.

    Update:

Even if Acer 1420p is listed on Acer’s US website for some time now the netbook tablet is nowhere to be seen in stores. This unfortunate situation is about to change as the first pictures of the gadget appeared on FCC’s website showing it in all its glory. Specs seem to be confirmed: Intel CULV SU2300 1.2 GHz CPU, 500 GB Hard drive and up to 8 GB RAM into a 11.6 inch shell.
